Red Star in 2nd Round qualification for Champion League
Red Star will play against Cork city or Apolon in 2nd Round qualifications for Champion League. Red Star will play first match away, on July 25,one week later: they will be host at Marakana.
Last year’s triumph in the Irish championship was only Cork City’s second in the club’s history. They have also won the Irish Cup once. The team’s colours are green and white and they play their home games at the Turner’s Cross Stadium (capacity ca. 8000).
Apolon from Limasol has won the Cypriot championship for the third time. They have been more successful in the national cup, lifting the trophy on five occasions. The club was founded in 1954; their players wear white jerseys and play home fixtures at Cirias Stadium (14,400 seats). One interesting bit of trivia about Apolon is that its roster includes 12 foreigners.
